The Bulgarian Sea Resorts

The popularity of the Bulgarian Sea resorts has seen a robust growth in recent years, following the fall of communism and the opening of borders to foreign tourists. The tourism industry has grown into one of the main drivers of the national economy, with double-digit growth rates of the number of tourists each and every year. The property market along the Black Sea Coast with its two airports of Varna and Bourgas, is rapidly increasing as is its popularity as a holiday destination and an ideal location for property investment.

The city of Bourgas, situated in the farthest western part of Bourgas Bay, the largest bay of Bulgaria along the Black Sea Coast, benefits from its strategic geographical location and advanced transport infrastructures. Bourgas is a cross point of both traditional and newly established axes of economic and political interests from Europe, the Near and Middle East, Russia, Ukraine… This city also has the biggest international airport of the country. Nevertheless, Bourgas is not famous as a beach resort, but rather as a starting point for the big southern Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria like Sozopol, with its railway station facilities and busy bus station.

Sozopol, located 34 km south of Bourgas on a slender rocky peninsula, is the oldest town on the Black Sea coast. The city's glorious history of more than 26 centuries has been well preserved in its charming spirit, character and ambience. This place with its two sandy beaches, and distinctive nineteenth-century stone and wood houses became a popular tourist resort. Sozopol is a bustling place during the summer months, ranging from May to September. During this period, the climate is temperately continental with a distinct impact from the Black Sea.

The city is connected by regular transport service to and from Bourgas and the other resorts around.
